Good morning, Marseille! Fourth day of #RIPE76 with more Working Groups (#IoT, MAT which is measurements, free software wrongly labeled o... s...). https://ripe76.ripe.net/
Unfortunately, I'll be at a meeting of France-IX board, so I'll miss most of them.
"Multi-Gbps HTTP Traffic Analysis in Commodity Hardware Based on Local Knowledge of TCP Streams" by Carlos Vega at #RIPE76
Main goal is speed.
For instance, they don't reassemble TCP connections: they just analyse the first IP packet of the HTTP request and the first IP packet of the HTTP response.
(So, their analysis of URL length stops at 1455 bytes.)
50 times faster than tshark, for instance (yes, the speaker noticed he compares apples and oranges) #Wireshark #RIPE76
"Perceptual Evaluation of Web-Browsing" by
Diego Neves da Hora at #RIPE76 (and I *hate* the word "eyeballs", which reduce users to consumers)
Second time I see the acronym ATF, which I didn't know before #RIPE76
(That's the time it takes to display the visible part of a Web page. ATF <= PLT )
PLT is questionable anyway. Sometimes, you load the entire page, its objects, but asynch. Javascript code did not complete its work yet, so, from the PoV of the user, it is not loaded yet. #measurements #RIPE76
@bortzmeyer Yeah really nice visualisation! I remember the first versions of the IXP jedi, it's much prettier now :)
"Measuring Routing Insecurity at the Global Scale" by Andrei Robachevski #RIPE76
Other RIPE measurement tools: #Zonemaster is now the backend in RIPE stat #DNS tests. #RIPE76
